About CocoBuddy

CocoBuddy gives families thoughtful, fun questions that spark conversations worth keeping - ask your kid "What's your favorite memory with me?" and see what they come up with, or let them ask you about your childhood. Save the conversation and listen back over the years to hear their little voices, discover how they think, and see how much they've grown.

Our story

We're Michael and Alice, parents to Ruby and Rylo, and we built CocoBuddy as a way to remember the conversations we have together.

The idea came from Alice going back to old voice memos of everyday conversations she had with the kids. Listening back, she'd hear their contagious laughs, their funny thoughts, mispronounced words, and the smallness in their voices. She realized photos and videos are nice to look back on, but hearing their tiny voices took her right back to that moment. We wanted more of those moments and a way to keep them, so we built CocoBuddy together with the kids.

CocoBuddy has already helped us have conversations we will cherish forever, and we hope it does the same for other families.

Features

As of CocoBuddy 0.1

  • Questions for any moment: over a hundred to ask any time, from silly to thoughtful, or write your own.
  • Questions for special occasions: birthday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and holiday sets show up when the day is near. Ask the same question each year and listen back to the earlier answers.
  • Kids ask parents, too: grown-ups get their own questions, so kids can ask about the parts of your life that might not come up otherwise.
  • Record together: pick a question, tap record, and the memory is saved to their profile with the question and the date.
  • Find it and listen again: transcripts are made on your phone. Search by what was said and play it back.
  • Go at your own pace: no streaks, no pressure. No account needed; sign in with Apple only if you want a backup.
