CocoBuddy Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

CocoBuddy is made by Chin and Cheeks LLC, a California limited liability company. This policy covers the CocoBuddy iOS app and explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

CocoBuddy collects only what it needs to run the app and keep your family's recordings safe:

• Account data when you sign in with Apple: the name and email address Apple provides (or Apple's private relay address, if you choose that), and an account identifier.
• Family profiles that a parent sets up in the app: names, roles (like parent or child), and optional birthdays.
• Voice recordings and their transcripts from the conversations your family records in the app.
• Recording details, such as the date and duration of a recording and the question that was asked, including any custom question you write yourself.
• Purchase and entitlement status, handled through RevenueCat. No card numbers ever reach us.
• Analytics and crash data, described in section 4 below.

CocoBuddy has no ads. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we do not sell personal information.

3. Where your family's recordings live

Every recording starts on your device. CocoBuddy never uploads your family's conversations, recordings, or transcripts to our services unless you sign in with Apple. Signing in backs up your family's recordings and transcripts to your account, stored in our Firebase project (which runs on Google Cloud).

Transcription always happens on your device. Recordings are never uploaded anywhere to be transcribed.

4. Analytics and crash reporting

CocoBuddy uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. This helps us understand how the app is used and catch problems early.

We collect usage events, like opening the app or steps in a purchase flow, along with standard automatic events such as first-open and session-start. We also collect your device model, operating system and app version, a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, a device-scoped installation identifier (IDFV), and crash traces when something goes wrong.

We do not attach your account ID to analytics data, and we do not use advertising identifiers of any kind.

5. Sharing - by you, and by us

By you. When you share a recording from the app, CocoBuddy exports an audio file named with your child's name and the recording date, along with a short message that includes the question, to whatever app or person you choose to share it with. Once shared, the recipient controls their own copy.

By us. We only share information with the service providers that help us run CocoBuddy: Google/Firebase (for storage, our database, sign-in, analytics, and crash reporting) and RevenueCat (for purchases, keyed to the same account ID when you're signed in). Apple acts as the platform and payment processor for the app. We do not share your information with anyone else, and never for advertising.

6. Children's privacy

CocoBuddy is built for parents and guardians to use together with their kids. A parent operates the account and chooses what gets recorded. Recordings stay on your family's own device unless a parent signs in with Apple to back them up.

CocoBuddy has no ads, no advertising identifiers, and we never sell information about your family. A parent can delete any recording, or the entire account, at any time. If you have any questions about your child's information, contact us at support@cocobuddy.app.

7. Your choices and deletion

Deleting your account from within the app removes the family content and account we store: recordings, transcripts, family profiles, and the sign-in itself, and it wipes the app's data on your device. We keep a minimal deletion record for up to 90 days to make sure the deletion completed successfully, and that record then expires.

Deletion does not reach a few things that live outside our systems: purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat, analytics and crash data we already collected, and operational logs. Those follow the retention practices of those services.

Signing out removes the app's family data (recordings, transcripts, profiles) from the phone. If you were signed in, the backed-up copy stays safely under your account until you sign back in or delete the account. If your family never signs in, everything stays on your phone - CocoBuddy keeps no copy. Deleting the app removes the app's data from the phone (your own iPhone backup may still hold a copy). 8. Security

Data sent between the app and our services travels over encrypted connections, and family content stored with backup turned on is kept in Google Cloud infrastructure. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we work to keep your family's information protected.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time as the app changes. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
